Xiaomi held its launch event to introduce Xiaomi 14 Series and Xiaomi HyperOS under the theme “Leap Beyond the Moment”, showcasing a human-centric approach to technology, and unveiled the “Human X Car X Home” smart ecosystem alongside Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Pro, and other AIoT products.
Xiaomi 14: Compact Size, Pro-Level Performance
Xiaomi 14 introduces a new chapter in industrial design, adopting industry-leading ultra-thin bezel design with incredibly advanced FIAA technology. This innovation achieves an exceptionally slim chin, providing users with an immersive visual experience. It is available in four distinct colors – Jade Green, Black, White, and Snow Mountain Pink – catering diverse preferences. In particular, the Snow Mountain Pink version uses second-generation nano-tech skin, first seen in Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which is highly durable and resistant to discoloration.
In terms of the display, Xiaomi 14 utilizes C8 light-emitting material with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, the highest peak brightness screen in the industry. This ensures a clear display even in direct sunlight and supports Dolby Vision® HDR format. The screen pixel density has been enhanced to 460ppi, delivering more details than ever. Furthermore, thanks to LTPO technology, it achieves a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz, ensuring a seamless visual experience for activities such as web browsing, reading, or gaming. This represents a significant breakthrough for Xiaomi 14.
Xiaomi 14 offers the new Light Fusion 900 image sensor. Designed with outstanding native high dynamic range, excellent photo and video imaging quality, high bandwidth and throughput, and impressive power efficiency, the Light Fusion family is a series of professional high dynamic sensors developed especially for the mobile optical era. Light Fusion 900 is the highest of the series, with a Type 1/1.3 image sensor size and an impressive 13.5EV native high dynamic range to capture subtle details from light and shadow, providing users with a pro-level shooting experience.
As a significant achievement of the collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica, Xiaomi 14 has been engineered with Leica Summilux optical lenses with an upgraded ƒ/1.6 aperture on the main camera, working together with the Light Fusion sensor to reach light intake that is up to 180% higher than that of Xiaomi 13.¹ Moreover, the resolution of the ultra-wide angle camera has been upgraded to 50MP while also offering the highly acclaimed Leica 75mm floating telephoto lens, supporting focus distance from 10cm to infinity.
Xiaomi 14 implements the world’s first Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform to provide superior performance and higher power efficiency with the most advanced processing technology. Meanwhile, a stable and comfortable user experience is enhanced by Xiaomi Loop LiquidCool technology, even under intensive operations such as gaming, high-resolution video streaming, or running complex applications.
In terms of audio, Xiaomi 14 is equipped with a 4-mic array, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos®, and a USB 3.2 Gen1 5Gbps port, which boasts a data transfer speed 10 times that of the previous generation.¹ We have also brought a customized high-vibration X-axis linear motor for an experience similar to Xiaomi 13 Ultra, in a more compact body.
Besides, Xiaomi 14’s battery management system implements the Xiaomi Surge P2 charging chipset and a Xiaomi Surge G1 battery management chipset, achieving fast charging and high-efficiency battery management. One of the main highlights of Xiaomi 14 Pro is Xiaomi Ceramic Glass. This display panel adopts a special powder formula that is heated at over 800℃, and through crystal formation, microcrystals are produced, which form an interlocking structure and become evenly dispersed in the glass. This design allows Xiaomi Ceramic Glass to far exceed the strength of typical glass, boasting 10 times higher drop resistance and 1.25 times higher scratch resistance while maintaining high transparency.¹
Xiaomi 14 Pro features an innovative All Around Liquid Display. After experimenting with one-side curves, dual-curves, and quad-curves, Xiaomi has redefined the smartphone display form. This unique display shape curves slightly down on all four sides and corners with consistent curvature, retaining the visual aesthetic of a flat screen while providing the smooth feel of a curved edge. All Around Liquid Display resolves issues found in traditional curved screens, such as screen distortion, color inaccuracies, accidental touches, and reliability concerns. From specific angles, it gives the impression that content is suspended above the screen, offering an entirely new visual and tactile experience.
This 6.7-inch display offers remarkable WQHD+ resolution, achieving a pixel density of 522ppi. It utilizes C8 light-emitting material co-developed by Xiaomi and CSOT, which stands as the industry’s highest luminous efficiency, reaching a peak brightness of 3000 nits and supporting Dolby Vision® HDR format. Furthermore, this display employs LTPO technology, enabling a variable refresh rate from 1-120 Hz, alongside DC dimming and 1920Hz PWM dimming, receiving triple eye protection certification from TÜV Rheinland Certified.
Xiaomi 14 Pro introduces an industry-leading ƒ/1.42 – ƒ/4.0 variable aperture capability for the first time. Similar to a camera’s aperture, this variable aperture automatically adapts to changes in ambient light, allowing for adjustments within the ƒ/1.42 – ƒ/4.0 range. This means that in diverse lighting conditions, Xiaomi 14 Pro can precisely control the amount of light entering the lens, ensuring optimal exposure in various shooting scenarios.
Xiaomi 14 Pro’s ƒ/1.42 – ƒ/4.0 variable aperture not only offers better shooting results, it also offers users a wealth of creative possibilities. For example, users can control depth of field and bokeh effects by adjusting the aperture value. In low light conditions, a larger aperture can produce brighter photos, while in strong light, a smaller aperture can prevent overexposure. In addition, a smaller aperture can naturally create dazzling starburst effects from point light sources, enhancing artistic expression in photography.
In pro mode, users can manually adjust the aperture value with a 1/3 EV increment for finer exposure control. Additionally, the system can adjust the aperture continuously based on a set shutter speed to achieve ideal exposure results in various shooting environments. UltraSpace storage expansion is a patented Xiaomi technology implemented on Xiaomi 14 Series.² It makes use of available UFS memory to expand available storage beyond original capacity.
